Summary: Would not recommend the family suite (the room in the turret) - there is no aircon in the bedrooms and the space is oppressive and really dangerous for kids: there is a floor level window with no ability to lock it and a sheer drop on the other side. Totally inappropriate to our families with small children in this room. We asked to swap rooms but they could not accommodate - even though the property was definitely not at capacity. Breakfast was really disappointing; especially as this was an extra charge. Bland cereal, limited fruit and slices of cheese - no offer of coffee at the table - just a machine that didn’t work. Not good at all. Asked for a late checkout as none of us had slept properly owing to the lack of aircon in bedrooms (despite the room being advertised as having aircon) - and they refused; again - despite the check in time not being until 5pm… so even if they’d let us stay until 1pm they would have still had 4 hours to clean the room. Then when I checked out the hotel tried to charge me for the room again, despite already paying on hotels.com - but she couldn’t find my confirmation on her emails. Weird and frustrating all round. She did offer 100eur off due to the lack of advertised aircon - but this didn’t really make up for the experience. The food at dinner was really lovely though and I can imagine this would be a nice place for couples or solo travellers. But a disappointing stay for us.
