Summary: My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in December. The weather threw everything it could at us: gales, torrential rain, blizzards - but we were cosy and warm in this little bolt-hole. Even by December standards the weather was hideous - but local restaurants (special thanks to the Monaclin) stayed open throughout. Within about 200m you have a choice of about 8 restaurants, at least 4 of which are well worth a visit. The gite itself is small but well equipped, the bed kingsize and comfortable, the hosts attentive and friendly. One point to note is that there isn't a separate oven, but the microwave is a combination type with grill. I never did quite get the hang of warming croissants but Combi 2 for 4 minutes would have been my next try ( for 2 croissants).That might save you some time. We spent most of our time in the conservatory watching the world do it's best to go by, Perfectly warm and very well built. Le Portel is an unpretentious and friendly little place, with everyting you could want. Well worth a visit.
