Positive: We enjoyed the ambience and the staff were very friendly and professional. Despite it being half-term and a hotel that caters to families the children were unobtrusive. We were there in wet weather and the hotel was a haven of calm and relaxation. The restaurant offered a very wide range of wines by the glass or 0.5l carafe, almost their entire wine list. it made it possible to have the wine of your choice and still have capacity for a dessert wine, port or digestive. An approach that more restaurants and hotels should adopt.

Negative: Some bits of the well equipped spa could do with some maintenance (but we were there in February).

Summary: A relaxing haven.
