Summary: Som and her husband have built a small, but amazing retreat away from the busy streets and areas of Koh Lanta. We really can't recommend them and their villas enough. To boot, Som is an amazing cook that's quickly becoming known for her famous homemade baja-style tacos and margaritas. The villas are incredibly clean, complement westerner's expectations (although you really shouldn't have any at all if you're in this part of Thailand), and themed after Som and her family's numerous expeditions all over the world. For activities, I highly recommend a quick Kayak over to super small Koh Klang island where you can snorkel (ask Som to make a few sandwiches for the road) OR just hang out and read as the tide goes in and out. There's so much to do and/or NOT to do here, my wife and I extended our stay from 2 to 3 nights. Seriously, if you have adventurous inclinations, enjoy great food, and have been looking for some quiet in Thailand (but haven't found it yet), BOOK THE OTHER SIDE VILLAS! P.S. Have Som make you some Thai-style Chicken Noodle soup. No noodles, but it's everything you ever wanted Campbell's to be.
