The Lake House is a spectacular lakefront family cabin on West Twin Lake near the charming little city of Saint Helen, Michigan in northern Michigan! The cabin has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and sleeps 14! The cabin has a large and well-stocked kitchen as well as a very large, comfortable, and cozy living room. There is also a small dining table next to the kitchen. The cabin even has a little office area with a nice desk. The cabin is available for rent year-round as it is fully-heated with a propane forced-air furnace and also cooled in the summer via central air conditioning! The cabin is approx. 2700 square feet in size and, with the 3 bathrooms, this vacation home accommodates up to 14 adults very comfortably!
This vacation property also includes a LUXURIOUS INDOOR HOT TUB / SPA, a huge wrap-around backyard deck, a large backyard (on the lake), a bonfire ring, a gas grill, a washer and dryer, WiFi, a large flat-screen television with live streaming via a Roku device, and gorgeous wood-themed decorating throughout the cabin! There is also a lovely wood fireplace in the cabin as well as a piano, both of which are available for guests to use! This vacation home works great for families, extended families, and groups both large and small!
The Lake House is located in a beautiful, scenic, and natural part of rural northern Michigan. The cottage is very private, serene, and peaceful with gorgeous natural beauty! This lakefront vacation cabin is located on a private peninsula that extends out into West Twin Lake. The cabin is just a 20-minute drive from Houghton Lake (the largest inland lake in Michigan) and a 15-minute drive from the cute little town of Saint Helen. It is close to numerous hiking, walking, and snowmobiling trails. The location serves as an excellent base for exploring all that northern Michigan has to offer!(Note that there are actually two West Twin Lakes in Michigan. This vacation property is located on the southern of the two West Twin Lakes. The cabin is in Roscommon County just southeast of Houghton Lake.)
Please note that this vacation cabin is located on a very rural and unpaved road. The road does get plowed throughout the winter, but the last one-half of a mile to get to the cabin can be a little rough and we suggest travelling in a vehicle with snow tires and/or 4wd in the winter if guests have access to one. (We suggest this, but it is not required.)
HOUSE RULES:
All guests are required to abide by the following rules:
Pets: This is a pet-friendly vacation rental property and up to 2 dogs are allowed for each stay. There is a $100 pet fee to help us cover the additional cleaning cost associated with pets. (Note that more than 2 dogs are not permitted and pets other than dogs are also not permitted.)
Check-in / Check-out Times: To allow us to have the home properly cleaned and prepared for incoming guests, we ask that guests check-out by 11:00 AM and that new guests arrive after 4:00 PM. Check-out prior to 11:00 AM is particularly important as our cleaning personnel normally start cleaning the house promptly at 11:00 AM upon the day of check-out.
Quiet Hours: For the sake of the neighbors, it is expected that guests will keep noise to a minimum outside of the house after 11:00 PM until at least 8:00 AM.
Minimum Stay: During the summer months, we rent the cottage on a weekly basis. On holiday weekends, there is a 3-night minimum stay requirement. Except for rare calendar exceptions, at all other times of the year there is a 2-night minimum stay requirement.
Cleaning Fee: There is a $225 cleaning fee per stay for each reservation.
Damage Deposits: We require a $500 damage deposit for all reservations. This deposit is fully-refundable and will be promptly returned to the guest if there is no damage to the property.
Towels / Linens: We provide bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths for all guests as well as sheets for the beds, so guests do not need to bring their own. We do not provide beach towels though, so it is suggested that guests bring their own beach towels.
Kitchen Supplies: We provide a good supply of cooking and dining utensils for guests to use. This includes a coffee maker, toaster, and salt and pepper. Guests are asked to wash any dishes that they use prior to their departure.
Garage: The garage is used for personal storage and is not available for guests to use.
Indoor Fireplace: The indoor wood fireplace is available for guests to use.
Firewood: A fun and family-friendly fire ring with chairs is provided in the backyard for having bonfires and s'mores. The indoor fireplace is also available for guest use. We do not provide firewood, but firewood is readily available for purchase at grocery stores and gas stations in the area.
ORVs / ATVs: ORVs (off-road vehicles) and/or ATVs (all-terrain vehicles) are not permitted on the property at all! If you are coming to the area to ride ORVs / ATVs, please rent a different property!
Boats and Watercraft: West Twin Lake is a private lake and there is no public boat launch. Guests are welcome to bring their own boats or other watercraft, but they must be launched from either the property itself or from the small section of state-owned land to the west of the property.
Kids Playhouse: As shown in some of the photos, there is two-story kids playhouse in the backyard of the property. Guests are welcome to use the playhouse at their own risk!
Wi-Fi: The property has satellite Wi-Fi and guests are welcome to use it.
Television Streaming Services: The television at the property is equipped with FireTV entertainment which includes Netflix, HBO, Showtime, and Prime.
