The space
Set in idyllic surroundings near Gurnard and Cowes this architecturally charming converted ((two/three)) bedroom chapel offers delightful character accommodation in a very unique setting.
This property was originally a chapel serving its rural community and the original pulpit and church organ form some of the defining features of the stunning open plan living area. Retaining many original features the property also benefits from mature gardens and off road parking, and is set in a highly sought after location. Immediately you step into this atmospheric property you instantly feel part of its rich historic past!
Dated 1890 The Chapel was lovingly extended and restored in 1988 and provides a fully fitted kitchen/diner, downstairs bedroom with king size bed and separate wc and shower enclosure, and a further bathroom with shower over the bath.
The beamed open plan vaulted living space is an imposing interior with the original church organ and pulpit at either ends of the room. Originally designed, as all churches are, to draw attention to the heavens, the high ceiling is now dominated by a chandelier hanging in its centre.
A new Calor gas boiler provides central heating and hot water.
Please note the decorative fire (not in use) is set within a large feature brick fireplace.
An ornate stained glass window provides a constant reminder of the history of this beautiful building, and a source of natural daylight to the downstairs accommodation.
To the front of the property there is an enclosed court yard garden with pond which can also be accessed via French doors from the living area.
Two stair cases adjacent to either end of the main living area lead to two further bedroom areas, one small double with separate wc and hand basin, and the other single is on a open mezzanine level from the lounge with the benefit of a balcony overlooking the rear gardens, and sea glimpses and be equally suitable as an office or study area, overlooking the main ground floor living space.
