Summary: Over the 22 years of coming to Zihuat this is the first time staying above Las Gatas. We always run up to the security gates so we were excited about seeing the other side. We’re active and could run, walk or cab the few miles to the beach & town. But we won’t return. I’ve never written a negative review, but felt this time I had to. The good: Beautiful view! Extremely quiet at night. Very peaceful. Roomy. The committee pool is beautiful. We were always alone. I found weights and a yoga mat in the closet 🧘🏻🏋🏻‍♀️ We know the property manager, pool cleaner and driver from other properties and they were great!! The Bad: We were not told there would be a high rise condo under construction (four stories and a one story foundation). It was only a feet away and sadly will completely block 1/3 of the view. The noise was constant during the day. I had to keep my AirPods on during the day and it was hard to work remotely. We learned two more condo units are going to be built. The pool had no Internet service- not for everyone but my husband and I both own businesses & need it. Not a deal breaker. Since we are so isolated we planned to cook most our meals. The kitchen is not set up for cooking. 3 bad Knives, no grater, broken can openers, limited dishes, etc. Doors in bathroom and laundry room are awkward- to get to the toilet in one bathroom you have to manipulate the doors around the shower edge and you could twist your ankle. The door stoppers had to be lifted to close doors. Not a huge issue it was just annoying.
