Originating from the fourteenth century, it has kept all its authenticity, both in its architecture and in its layout. HISTORY
Montardy Castle belongs to the LAU family of Allemans since 1427. Its origin dates back to the 14th century. Feudal castle, it was transformed over the centuries until the sixteenth century.
The castle was the favorite place of great men of history such as King Edwars VII who came to spend his holidays there and hunt (as a friend). Peter Shaffer was also an iconic character who came to the castle several times. All his plays, including "Amadeus", were written at Château de Montardy.
Finally, Proust speaks of the Marquis du Lau d'Allemans and his family in several volumes of his famous book "In Search of Lost Time".
GARDENS
Located in Green Périgord, the castle overlooks a splendid valley extending over several kilometers. It is on the edge of a park of old trees and surrounded by a property of 300 hectares.
