Positive: The owner Mansour and his family provide you with a unique experience in their traditional family house, making you feeling a part of the family itself. It’s also an incredible place to meet other very interesting travellers and exchange with them. The biggest added value of this hostel is that Mansour can organise tailored day trips but also multiday treks in the nearby Fan Mountains and lakes (Seven Lakes, Kulikalon, Alauddin, Chimtarga pass, etc) - more touristic or sportive/alpinism oriented. The prices are reasonable and the quality very good - also possible to rent tent, sleeping mats & bags, cooking gears and guide/cook with donkeys depending on the profile of your trek. At the hostel we tried first a private room with three beds and at the end of the trek we stayed an extra night in the dormitory. Both were good, especially the dormitory which is well organised with AC, curtains and lockers for each bed. Common spaces very nice both on the first floor and ground floor with kitchen always available even with some food. Laundry service available. The location of the hostel in Penjakent is very good, just nearby the bazar and shared taxi stands (including to the border with Uzbekistan, very close like 15-20 minutes by car), with a lot of shops nearby and the main sights at walking distance including old Penjakent. Very strong Wi-Fi. Highly recommended, we will come back for sure for more exploration of the area! Thank you Mansour for the great time we had in Penjakent and Fan Mountains, and the lovely people we met there, especially Otam, Timur & Polvon!
