Herman Melville lived up the street, literally. Three blocks up. Yet the renovation makes it modern and comfortable — ample kitchen gadgets and multiple TVs with streaming, while still enjoying original exposed beams, peace and quiet and campfires and canoeing on the river the way the Iroquois and the early settlers did it. Access the three bedrooms upstairs (king bedroom, second bedroom and another with a balcony). Please don't use the garage or basement. Please call or text anytime if you have questions, thanks! Best grocery shopping in this area is at Hannaford. We love going to Peebles Island for a hike and the Snowman for ice-cream. Downtown Troy is 8 min drive away from the house and offers plenty of restaurant options as well as an amazing farmers market every Saturday. Our guests can park in the driveway or on the street (111 st). There is a bus stop on 2nd ave, right by the house, as well as City Bikes station.
