Positive: Lovely location - peaceful but near to lots of things to see and do. Garden was beautiful, safe for animals and lots of wildlife - if you get up early you will see deer in the garden right outside the conservatory as we did! Log burner made the barn nice and cosy in the evenings. Lots of hot water for showers. Listening to the birds at dawn.
Negative: We felt the house needed updating and revamping - it felt a bit 'tired'. The sofa and chairs are very uncomfortable and too low to sit in for any length of time. We felt the bedrooms and bathrooms need reconfiguring, so the bathrooms could be made bigger (the bedrooms are very large but lots of wasted space due to low ceilings). Definitely needs to have dormer windows put in, or the roof raised as there are serious height issues and difficulties getting a shower if you are over 5' 4" tall! Climbing in the baths to get a shower (via an attachment to the tap), with very low ceilings is an issue for the most able bodied. Although, this may not be possible if the barned is listed. One of the most serious issues which we felt needs addressing is the temperature of the water coming out of the taps, it was almost boiling water! If you knock the raised tap in the bath while showering you end up burning yourself as some of our party did on more than a few occasions. The sink taps are singular and not mixer taps. So again potentially very dangerous. We believe the temperature of the water needs to be restricted to a safe level, this must be a health and safety issue especially for children (?). The water pressure was very strong and the bathroom floors got very wet however careful we were. Kitchen blind didn't work properly. More instructions how to operate/program the wall heaters would be helpful. Bbq was very very old and rusty, needs a new one! It could be a fantastic place if some time and money was invested with less ikea furniture! 😉
