Situated in the Alt Empordà region, Palau-Saverdera is a charming town with a population of around 1,500 residents. It is nestled at the foothills of the southern slopes of Sierra Verdera and borders the towns of Roses, Port de la Selva, La Selva de Mar, Pau, and Castelló d'Empuries.
Much of the town is enveloped by the natural parks of Cap de Creus and Aiguamolls del'Empordà, with several protected natural areas designated by the Xarxa Natura 2000.
