Two major markets: the "Gratte-Ciel" market on Tuesday, Thursday, and especially Saturday; and the fabulous Place Wilson market on Wednesday, Friday, and especially Sunday, where you can find everything at unbeatable prices in a family-friendly, relaxed atmosphere (you can have breakfast on Bettant's terrace while others enjoy a glass of red wine at the stall).

The typically Lyonnaise Brotteaux district, with its terraces and lively venues.
The neighboring Gratte-Ciel district, the heart of Villeurbanne, with 1930s architecture (Town Hall, TNP, etc.) and many food shops.
The Puces du Canal: a small and lovely flea market, very different from the overpriced hipster thrift shops in the hills.
The Transbordeur, arguably the best concert venue in Lyon (just my opinion!), is in Villeurbanne!
