Summary: My husband and I loved absolutely everything about Sisteron and the perfect home that we called our own for a week. The house is well situated, just across the river from Sisteron, in a quiet neighborhood. The shops and restaurants in the Centre Ville of Sisteron are a lovely ten minute walk away. Florian, the owner, speaks perfect English, as does his right hand man, Florent, who greeted us with an excellent bottle of wine and showed us around the property. Our number one concern was about staying cool, as we were visiting in mid-August. As Florian told us pre-arrival, the air conditioning in the master bedroom and living area downstairs are new and they cooled beyond our expectations. The upstairs does not have air conditioning; however, the temperatures drop into the 60’s as soon as the sun goes down so opening the windows to the ever present breeze does the trick. The interior of the home is very modern. The house has undergone a recent renovation and the kitchen and bathrooms are state of the art. A large fenced yard wraps around the house. There is a comfortable sitting area with views of a craggy mountain and an above ground pool in a private corner behind the house. Our favorite place to hang out was on the patio off the dining room with views of the huge fort overlooking the Rive Durance. We had coffee there each morning and wine there every evening. We are already planning a trip back with friends. Don’t miss this five star gem in Haute Provence.
