Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: My review is in two halves; the accommodation and the booking process. The accommodation: The location to Nene Park and family we were visiting were great. The space available in the accommodation was more than enough for 2 adults. Parking was outside the door. Amenities in the area were good for shops, etc. Some traffic noise outside but inside it was really quiet. Plenty of tea and coffee and small biscuit packs to welcome you. It's a really pleasant place to stay and I would recommend it to others if the booking process was reviewed.

Negative: The booking: This wasn't a great experience after booking the accommodation and would stop us staying there again. . The advert was incorrectly showing pet friendly (which is why we chose it). This has since been removed. The owners agreed for our dog to stay though, which was very much appreciated but caused stress at the time. We were asked to pay KVM Stays directly which I felt uncomfortable doing as it normally happens through Booking.com or at the place. They also asked us to check in via a portal prior to the stay (which I did) but this didn't seem to register. They also asked for 2 forms of ID to prove our address, pay a £250 refundable deposit and digitally sign a rental agreement. On our way to driving to the property (4 hours away), we got a call to say they hadn't had anything from us. They had however received the full cost and refund but not my ID (at this point I started to feel like it was a scam). It got sorted in the end but this caused so much stress that seemed unnecessary. I think the management company need to review how they deal with the bookings to avoid that in the future. Small things detracted in the accommodation with some extra cleaning needed, the boiler came on at 04:00 and woke us up on both days as it's really loud upstairs, there were part eaten ice creams in the freezer.
