Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: The location was nice, right in front of the beach and nearby to downtown playa del carmen. The ac was strong and comfortable, the cleaning staff were friendly and did a great job in our rooms.
Negative: This didnt feel like a 5 star resort. The elevator smelled like it was cleaned with a moldy mop. The beach beds were only available for an extra cost. The entertainment in the room we had didnt have any streaming services available, to watch movies you have to pay extra. No food was included in our stay, the adult swimming pool closes after 7 pm, laundry service is not complimentary and the rates for laundry were astronomical. the fridge in the room was barely cold. As a religious couple, we felt really uncomfortable with a certain other religious group praying in the lobby and all over the resort. We didn't come on vacation to have that sort of thing smeared on our faces every time we leave our room. The hotel should have a private room dedicated to this sort of thing because ot makes other guest uncomfortable. Especially in this political climate we are in. Best to keep these things to yourself and in private to avoid conflict.
Summary: I will be finding another resort on my next trip.
