Unfortunately, we will be closing our little slice of mountain heaven as of 1 August due to the owner needs to sell it. Our wheelchair ramp begins on the driveway with a level concrete pad. The ramp accesses a large, sunny deck on the front of the house. The entrance and main floor doors are 36 inch wide, except for the 1/2 bath, which is barely big enough for a person, let alone a wheelchair. Home is a beautifully decorated log cabin with a strong country theme, to include a fireplace with firewood provided. The main floor primary bedroom has a comfy king-size memory foam mattress and a wall mounted TV. We have included two office mats (underneath the bed) for those bringing Hoyer lifts. A barn door in the bedroom accesses an in-suit bath with a barrier free shower, grab bars, and a wall-mounted shower seat. It has ample room around the toilet with a grab bar as well as two ADA sinks. There is ample turn-around room in the bathroom for a wheelchair. Accessibility was not an afterthought, but the result of planning to developing a friendly environment. Open main floor has ample, fully equipped kitchen with stove, microwave, refrigerator, dish washer, garbage disposal, farmhouse sink and dish washing soap and dish washer soap provided. The comfy living area has a wall-mounted TV with DVD/Blue Ray player, numerous DVD movies, Dish Network, and a super NES Classic with over 200 games loaded on it. Our fireplace is well stocked with firewood provided as well as fire starters. There is also a ramp from the living room to the shaded, fully screened upper back porch which extends the entire back of the house. It is equipped with ceiling fans and rocking chairs to relax on. There is also access to the same porch from the primary bedroom at the opposite end. A wheelchair can access the larger lower back deck by way of the front ramp then on down the driveway, where there are two nicely decorated bedrooms (each with queen size memory foam mattress), a full bath with shower (no tub), and a laundry room with complimentary washer/dryer and clothes washing detergent and dryer sheets. Wheelchairs can get in and out of the bedrooms via the outside sliding doors, but the hallway and bathroom downstairs are restrictive for wheelchair access. The downstairs game room is wheelchair accessible from the outside sliding doors, which has a regulation sized pool table, our 9' shuffleboard table (with bowling accessories too), a card table, kids chalkboard easel and a 9' Speedball table, along with numerous board games, and puzzles. We now have a 5-person spa/hot tub that is available year-round! No need to bring towels as we have lots of beach towel for you to use. We have 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths - easy sleeping room for 6, and we can accommodate a few more if necessary, so let us know and we will advise you on the extra sleeping space. Both full bathrooms have small sundries in place (mini bath wash, toothpaste, toothbrush, mouthwash, razor just to name a few). Living room beanbag unzips into a kid-friendly full mattress, along with a full mattress on the sofa sleeper. Upon request we can also provide a comfortable queen air mattresses (on legs) that can be setup in the game room. The internet is available but is about like playing chess with a tree-stump, that means that it's very slow. We have a small collection of books as well as over 100 movie DVDs to choose from. There is a nice new brick barbecue area with charcoal provided and BBQ tools to use located next to the game room entrance. There is a flood light for this area and the light switch for it is located in the game room. The air is clean and clear, and no other sound intrudes into the area except for the sounds of the Hiawassee River which speeds by at the bottom of the property. We have 3 acres of woods and hills around the cabin and rolling hills around you. It is very peaceful and secluded with few neighbors, making it a wonderful place to center yourself and refocus on the important things around you. WIFI and internet are present and terrible (sorry, it is the terrain, not the equipment) so put your devices away and actually get to know each other again as this is a wonderful place for that. We have a phone connected for use if you can't get a signal on your cell phone while here (Verizon seems to be the only one that provides decent service in the cabins area). There is a fire pit that we have just a few steps down the hill from the bottom deck of the cabin. Late night Smore's and roasted marshmallows are always a hit. We have various locations on the property that you can walk to and hang our hammocks in, relax on a bench or some of the outdoor furniture and immerse yourself in nature. We have made every effort to create a special, healing environment for you and your family and friends. If you are looking for other adventures, many are available in the area. We are just a few miles from the John C Campbell Folk School if you want to take a class in just about any hobby that you can do by hand. There are lots of antique shopping opportunities, waterfalls to visit, fishing to do as well as whitewater rapids, hiking trails, and even the casino in Murphy. Brochures are readily available in the cabin for your use. We're sure you'll be glad you were able to spend time in our neck of the woods! We are on a well and do apologize if it occasionally has an odor when using the water, but it does not stay on your skin after washing.
