If you are looking for a calm sanctuary to spend some cozy fall days on the Golden Coast, or a space to keep you inspired on a busy workday, we’ve got you covered. Make yourself at home in our spacious apartment with a large sunlight-lit living-room area, big windows, wood floors, and a dining area for 4-6 people. The dining table extends to accommodate six guests for a casual and relaxed dinner with family and friends (any additional guests for dine-in purposes only; no overnight; no parties).
LIVING-ROOM: Our guests are invited to relax on a cozy sofa, watch Roku TV, and enjoy the bright outdoor patio for home-cooked meals while soaking up the California sun. A small dining table is located on the large patio for your convenience.
BEDROOMS: The cottage features 2 separate bedrooms: one bedroom has a Queen-size bed; two bunk beds (can be remodeled into 2 twins), as well as a sleeper sofa, is in a separate bedroom. Bed linens, as well as additional pillows and blankets, will be available for use throughout your stay.
NEIGHBORHOOD/LOCAL RESTAURANTS/EATERIES: Guests will find many casual local eateries and some upscale restaurants within walking distance in the famous “El Porto” neighborhood. A favorite among locals, the neighborhood has kept its edgy, cool, young, free-spirited, and artsy charm to this day.
TIP: If you are planning to cook your own meals, check out the local Farmer’s Market in Downtown Manhattan Beach (Tuesdays between 9am and 3pm) for fresh produce and home-baked bread and pastries.
STAYING FIT: Guests enjoy complimentary use of a yoga mat, weights, and blocks, as well as books (both German & English).
FAMILIES: Children's books, as well as toys for children aged 0-5 years, are available for complimentary use. Please use and return as you found them!
Please do not take any other toys but the sand toys to the beach.
ADDITIONAL AMENITIES: Guests can enjoy music via Amazon Alexa or connect their phone to a wireless speaker. An A/C installation can be placed into a window to allow for cooler airflow in the cottage.
WORKING FROM HOME: A smaller work table and a comfy chair are located in one of the bedrooms.
GUEST ACCESS:
A separate entrance for guests to access the beach cottage is located on the second floor.
We know how difficult it can be to find safe parking. That’s why we provide a designated parking spot on property for your convenience (small to mid-size vehicles; no vehicles with trailers). There is paid and free street parking close by. Watch out for street-cleaning restrictions on certain days.
IMPORTANT: The only access to the beach cottage is via stairs; NO elevator on property. NOT accessible.

Guests are required to take off the used bed linen and towels and leave them on the bathroom floor before check-out. No further cleaning is necessary.
Please refrain from carrying too much sand into the apartment during your stay ;-)
FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE: Guests can store their luggage a few hours before check-in and after check-out. Please communicate with the host to check availability a few days prior to your stay.

GETTING THERE:
Located only 10min from LAX by car, our cottage is a convenient option after arriving from LAX. Skip the hassle of a long drive into LA and escape to the Southbay. During your stay, you can conveniently get around by foot, bike, and car.
Public transportation is available within limited hours: Beach Cities Transit line 109 runs between Redondo Beach Riviera Village and LAX City Bus Center.
BCT Line 109 hours are 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on 40-50 minute headways.

Uber and Lyft also service the beach cities areas and provide transportation to/from LAX. Simply download the Uber/Lyft app on your phone and book your preferred ride.
NEIGHBORHOOD DESCRIPTION:
El Porto is a laid-back, relaxed neighborhood with moderate traffic. The local slogan “Keep El Porto Weird” captures its unique young, positive, and free-spirited vibe.
Many local restaurants are located within walking distance. Feel free to reach out to us for recommendations!
Downtown Manhattan Beach offers lots of shops and things to explore. Guests can relax among the locals at Metlox Plaza and take a stroll along Manhattan Beach Boulevard down to the beautiful Manhattan Beach Pier. For quick eats, local eateries sell pizza, ice cream, and refreshing Açai bowls.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES: One Wave Surf School, as well as Surf Food Stand & Rentals, is a 5-min walk from the property. (We provide free beach towels, and a beach umbrella for use during your stay)
Guests can walk to the beach (0.3 miles), rent and ride bikes on The Strand to the Manhattan Beach Pier (1.5 miles), the Hermosa Beach Pier (3.7 miles), and the Redondo Beach Pier (5.4 miles). Check out nearby Bruce's Beach, a park overlooking the ocean, or cute boutique shops and restaurants in Downtown Manhattan Beach (1. 4 miles).
DIRECTIONS TO ATTRACTIONS: The City of El Segundo is about a 1.7-mile drive away; 8.5 miles to Marina Del Rey with a nice harbor and shops.
Santa Monica can be reached by car in about 30min; about 45min to West Hollywood, 45-60min to Downtown LA.
Los Angeles International Airport is located about 5 miles, 10-15min by car, from the property. We recommend to always plan ahead if you’re leaving on a busy day with lots of traffic.

Birgit was nothing but a wonderful, responsive host for our two months in El Porto. She was quick to help out whenever anything was needed, and was also respectful of our personal space and privacy. The space itself is a wonderful vacation/staycation spot. With a giant living room window, there is an ocean view and more than enough natural sunlight. The space is furnished with WiFi/beds/desks, enough for two WFH stations, and enough space to accommodate at least 3/4 guests comfortably. Her space includes a turf patio, parking spot, kitchen, spacious garage for storage, in-house washer/dryer, and a 2-minute walk to the beach. There are great beach restaurants and cafes walking distance from the place and also grocery stores and malls all within driving distance. I could not recommend a better spot for surfers/beach lovers.
