Our cottage is close to all the action. Just 5 minutes from the Morgan Monroe State Forest, you can enjoy hiking, biking, and fishing. And just 15 minutes from the public Lake Lemon beach, you can swim, sunbathe, and play in the sand.
No direct lake access, but plenty of other options
While our cottage doesn't have direct lake access, there are plenty of other options for enjoying the water. You can rent boats, paddle boards, and kayaks at the nearby marina. Or, you can just relax on our deck and enjoy the view.
Explore the nearby wine country
If you're looking for a little something to do, you can explore the nearby wine country. There are three wineries within a 20-minute drive, so you can sample some of the best wines Indiana has to offer.
Get some exercise
If you're looking to get some exercise, you can go for a hike or bike ride in the Morgan Monroe State Forest. Or, you can play a round of golf at one of the nearby courses.

Our cottage is also the perfect place for a fun weekend with friends. There's plenty of space to spread out and relax, and plenty of activities to keep you entertained. Water Access: We DO NOT have direct lake access. However, there are many ways you can access the water. DO NOT climb down the steep hill to the water. Review house rules for safety reasons to avoid the hill.
Marina - We live only a short 5 minute drive from the lake lemon marina! Here you can rent pontoons ($200-$400 per day), kayaks ($30-$50 per day), and stand up paddle boards ($30-$50 per day). These can be reserved at https://lemonmarina.com/ . These rentals can go pretty quickly, so please rent as early as you can. You can also launch personal watercrafts including boats at the marina for a fee. Please refer to the website for more information. Our driveway is big enough to tow your boat and park while you are not using it.
Beach - The public Lake Lemon Beach can be found at Riddle Point Park (7599 N. Tunnel Road, Unionville, IN 47468). It cost $10 per car to enter. This beach is a 15 minute drive on the other side of the lake. While you are over there, you should check out the Port Hole Inn.
CAUTION:
Steep hill - Our home backs up to a very steep hill. Guests are not permitted to go outside of the two decks to ensure safety. Please watch small children while on the back decks to ensure safety. They should not be left alone due to the steep hill. Guests should not use the deck gate unless there is an emergency. Please go back through the house if you need to get up to the main level.
Steep Stairs - This is an older home with steep and uneven stairs down to the walk out basement. There is a retractable gate to prevent children from accessing the stairs. However, be aware of the safety risk of these stairs for children and adults. There is a full kitchen, bathroom, deck, and 3 full bedrooms on the main level - meaning that if someone in your party is unable to access these stairs to the basement - they will be able to stay on the main floor and access most of our amenities.
Hot Tub - The hot tub may be used at the own risk of each guest. Children are not permitted in the hot tub for safety reasons. Please note: there is NO GATE around the hot tub. While the hot tub has a cover, if an adult or child were to climb on top of the cover - they would fall in and be a risk of DROWNING. Please watch children while outside on our decks.

3 towels per bed
Medium roasts drip coffee
Decaf drip coffee
Single serve packets of sugar, splenda, and creamer
If you know that you are going to use more than what is provided, please plan to bring these items to the house.
*Lets talk bugs*
I also struggle with bugs in my space. However, please remember that you are traveling to a beautiful private home that will likely have a bug or two. We regularly spray, but with guests walking in and outside throughout their stays - you will see a bug at our property. To prevent bugs, please keep the doors closed and use the windows with screens to let in fresh air if you would like. Please place all of your food in the pantry - dont leave out on the counter.
One more thing - if you are visiting between May-September, and it rains, you may see bugs called midges. These really resemble mosquitos, but they are significantly less likely to bite. They come out the worst at dusk and dawn after it rains. They are annoying more than anything. The best ways to combat these bugs is by using a fan outside. We have a large black floor fan that you can take outside to rid these bugs. PLEASE return the fan back inside after using to prevent it from being ruined by rain.
